![]() ![]() The gameplay is rather simple and most of the bosses can be rather easy. The main story itself is not hard to follow regardless and the complexity helps to show more sides to the main characters and even test some of their beliefs. ![]() I just wish there was more backstory/lore to the main antagonist and her wife which is why I rated a 9 instead of a 10. The voice acting, dialogue and story, though a bit odd at times, is overall a big step up in quality and a major success for the game. ![]() Personally I enjoy something more than a generic/simple backstory and this idea circulating around that retro/older styled games have to have a simple story to be good is ludicrous. This also unlocks the hidden stage and true final boss. The story itself is more complex than the first so it is understandable that some may not like that, and lots of backstory is locked behind "Time Capsules" that you must acquire and view. The main story will still be pretty much the same, you will just get some altered or extended cutscenes or even some brand new ones more related to the character. This was done smartly and in the correct way as you do not need to play the game four times if you do not want to or do not enjoy one or more characters gameplay. Some story cutscenes even have parts others do not see, giving you a personalized story experience for each character. The story is the same no matter who you chose, but you will get different cutscenes at times. The game gives you four characters to choose from with different gameplay for each. So if, like me, you're not a big fan of Sonic or rushing around in general you can take your time and hop around the stages all you like. You do not need to play the first to understand this one, but it will help to understand some of the backstory and characters. As someone who is not really a fan of either, I did not expect to enjoy this game as much as I have and happily bought a copy for my husband to enjoy as well. You do not need to play the first to understand this one, but it will help to understand some This game is quite a hidden gem and has a fun blend of Sonic with the movement and level designs, and maybe Megaman with the boss battles. This game is quite a hidden gem and has a fun blend of Sonic with the movement and level designs, and maybe Megaman with the boss battles. It's one of my favorite indie series and platormers in general. This series is on par if not better than an classic Sonic game you may have played. Absolutely recommend playing the first one before this for story purposes. However it also has a much more indepth storytelling, voice acting, combat, equipment system, and worldbuilding. Specifically in terms of being a speed based 2D platformer with multiple playable characters, fantastic music, and elemental shields. For those unfamiliar this series takes a lot of inspiration from the Sonic series. More playable characters, the story & lore are further fleshed out, and the gameplay content is more than ever. Specifically in terms of being a speed based 2D platformer with multiple playable characters, fantastic This game stepped up from the first one in many ways. This game stepped up from the first one in many ways. So you'll get your money's worth out of this amazing action platformer. A casual playthrough for each character should be around 9 - 12 hours with lots of extras to play with as well. The game has twice as many stages and all characters are playable from the start with unique element to the story for each of them. Some even add more challenge and difficulty to get higher ranks. Stands on it's own with plenty of new features like a colorful map to travel in Adventure mode, items and potions to equip to spec your characters stats and abilities. The game has twice as many stages and all Huge improvement over the first game's level design, boss design, music, and visuals.
